Reading (and listening) List for 2016

I’ve read that highly successful people read, on average, about 60 books a year.  And we’re not talking romance novels, here.  Instead, they read business success books, how to books, personal and business development books, and books in a similar vein.

Now I understand that reading 60 books a year won’t make me successful all on its own.  But I figure if it’s one of the habits of highly successful people, it can’t hurt to try.

Besides, I love to read.  And now to listen–to audio books, youtube videos, and podcasts.

Why listen instead of read?  Two reasons:Ear plugs for listening instead of reading

  1. Business is great, and I don’t have as much time to read, especially while driving or exercising.
  2. I find taking notes on 3X5 cards while listening helps me retain the material faster.  And using the cards to flip through the subject material is a great review.

I’ve read quite a few books, listened to/watched a lot of video and audio in the past year, and wanted to share some of the best with you for 2016.  So here they are, in no particular order:

There it is – just a few from my list of favorites.  Enough to get started.

My advice?  Set aside 20 minutes a day to read, or 30 minutes to listen to audio or view a video.  Take notes, review what you have learned.  And try to apply at least one thing you’ve learned to your every day life.

That last bit sounds easy, but you’ll find it’s not so easy to do.  So here is my last recommendation,
