How much would an iPhone have cost in 1991?
WAY MORE than you think. Just comparing functionality -cd player, phone, camera, answering machine, video camera, etc. – the cost to do the same thing is over $3000. Matching just the memory, processor, and broadband capabilities brings the total to over 3.5 million! And don’t forget to appreciate the fact that all of this power and capability is in such a tiny form factor. I read once that advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Think about it – do you have any idea how these devices do what they do? How they are built? Could you explain or replicate even the simplest part of it?
Yet many them away as useless every two years or so. It’s interesting (maybe depressing is more suitable) how exponential growth of features and speed has so quickly jaded most of us.
